BRAZIL AND UNITED KINGDOM SIGN AGREEMENT TO ENHANCE PARTNERSHIP IN EDUCATION

Brazil and the United Kingdom signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aiming to enhance international cooperation in education.

The Ministry of Education, Mendonça Filho, and the United Kingdom Ambassador to Brazil, Alex Ellis, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the aim to expand and intensify international cooperation in education. During the meeting, that took place in Brasília, Brazil, they discussed important issues such as the UK participation in the Science without Boarder programme, the training of English teachers in Brazil and the recognition of diplomas between British and Brazilian universities.

Among the measures envisaged in the MoU there are the placement of English tests for students, teachers and engineers from the Science without Borders programme; the organization of classroom, on-line and immersion courses for training Brazilian teachers in English; implementation of hubs for teaching and learning Portuguese for foreigners at British universities; and encouraging the relationship between Higher Education Institutions and English language providers with the portal English without Borders.

They also discussed the priorities for the Brazilian Ministry of Education, such as professor capacity building, secondary education and vocational education, having  the British ambassador highlighted the importance of the relationship between Brazil and the United Kingdom in the field of Education. "Brazil is one of the countries with whom we have greater cooperation in the technological field of education," said Alex Ellis.
