Twelve Brazilian researchers from research institutions based in eight Brazilian states are expected to conduct joint research in the next two years with researchers linked to STI research institutions in the European Union.

This is the result of a joint call between the National Council of State Foundations of Research Support (Confap) and  the European Research Council (ERC, linked to the European Commission) to allow Brazilian researchers to integrate teams of Principal Investigators with ERC funded projects (ERC Grantees). See more details on the implementing arrangement here.

Approved visiting Brazilian researchers should be incorporated into the ERC-funded research group during visits that can be conducted in a continuous period or divided into short term visits. Researchers from the states of Alagoas, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo, were approved in the call, which will receive support from the Research Support Foundations (FAPs) of the respective states. They will be participating in research projects in Germany, Belgium, Denmark, France, Holland, Italy, Portugal, United Kingdom and Sweden.

The ERC projects open to Brazilian researchers are frontier projects covering a wide range of scientific fields.
