In seven years, cooperation in science, technology and innovation (ST&I) between Brazil and Germany resulted in 20 projects involving 54 universities from both countries and a total of 5.7 million euros involved. The partnership seeks, above all, innovative solutions to address global challenges related to climate change, biodiversity conservation and energy efficiency.
To discuss these actions, the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC) and the Academic Cooperation between Brazil and Germany (NoPa), led by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), promoted on Wednesday (15) a Workshop in Brasília (DF).
Successful projects include, for example, solid waste management in the city of Jundiaí (SP), which focused on sorting and waste management to produce biogas. Within the scope of the action was inaugurated the "Center for Research, Education and Demonstration in Waste Management (CReED Brazil)" for technological training.
"Our goal is to stimulate cooperation between science and technology among countries on issues such as biodiversity protection, tropical forest management, renewable energy and energy efficiency. It is the contribution of science to achieve sustainable impacts on cooperation," explained the director Of NoPa, Cristoph Büdke.
