The joint collaboration in the development of 5G technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) is the main objective of the partnership signed between Brazil and the European Union (EU). The Ministry of Science, Technology, Information and Communications (MCTIC) has signed two memorandum of understanding with Europe for the exchange of information and experience in both sectors.
The first, related to 5G technology, was signed between MCTIC, Telebras and the 5G Infrastructure Association (5GIA), an organization that brings together companies and technology developers in the European Union. According to the entity, Brazil is one of four strategic countries for joint collaboration in technology development, alongside China, Japan and South Korea.
The second agreement was signed between MCTIC, the Brazilian Internet Association of Things and the European Alliance for Internet of Things (Aioti).
For MCTIC's Secretary of Informatics Policy, Maximiliano Martinhão, who signed the documents during the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain, the idea is to work on real projects and achieve concrete progress. "Brazilian problems and solutions are sometimes not the same as those of Europeans and can be discussed and used by the other party. It's a win-win situation, "he said.
According to him, Brazil and the EU share the view that it is necessary to seek global standards and harmonization aspects, promote IoT and develop the private sector. The agreement will also help build the National IoT Plan, which entered the international public consultation phase.
