Horizon 2020 open calls on Risk Governance of Nanotechnology & Nanoinformatics (NMBP-13-2018 &  NMBP-14-2018).  Opportunities for EU-BR cooperation in the nanotech sector

It is the 9th INCOBRA webinar, taking place on the 7th December 2017, at 2.30pm GMT (3.30pm CET and 12.30am Brasilia’s time). The webinar will last 75 minutes and will be held in English.

This webinar will present two call topics now open under the  H2020 call on Foundations for Tomorrow Industry  (H2020-NMBP-TO-IND-2018-2020):

  • Risk Governance of Nanotechnology (NMBP-13-2018)
  • Nanoinformatics: from materials models to predictive toxicology and ecotoxicology (NMBP-14-2018)

The call covers different aspects, including the support for a framework to ensure public safety in nanotechnology. In this regards, the overall challenge is to establish a suitable form of nanotechnology risk governance and to ensure that beyond the state of the art technologies are accepted by stakeholders (civil society, industry, regulators).

This requires working on three different layers: (i) a scientific research layer for sound foundations, (ii) a regulatory research layer to validate and translate the scientific findings into appropriate regulatory frameworks and implementation, and (iii) a market layer dealing with the daily management of risks and safety. These three distinct layers should be integrated through actions for risk governance, risk assessment and safe by design. Notably nano-informatics approaches offer good chances for innovation.

In line with the strategy for EU international cooperation in research and innovation (COM(2012)497), international cooperation is particularly encouraged. Brazil is one of the target countries.

The webinar will present the 2 open call topics in all their aspects (objectives, mechanism, eligibility criteria, evaluation process, benefits), will then provide an insight on the Brazilian landscape on nanotech, and will leave room for interactive Q&A sessions.

The webinar will close with a pitching session aimed at showcasing organizations interested in the calls and looking for partnerships. Each organization has 3 minutes and a max of 3 slides.

For those organisations interested in the pitching session, please send us an email by December 4th. Please specify:

  • Name of your organization,
  • contact person in charge of the pitch,
  • contact details,
  • logo,
  • topic you are interested in and why (3 rows max),
  • slides if you want to use them.
