Germany offers scholarship for young researchers

The Alexander Humboldt Foundation (AvH), with support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brazil-Germany (AHK São Paulo) and the Germany Consulate in São Paulo, launch Call for young researchers for the German Chancellor for prospective leaders of Brazil Scholarship. This initiative aims to invest in 10 young Brazilian leaders to improve their talents in Germany. Interested have until September 15th to register.
The idea of the programme, created by the German chancellor, Angel Merkel, is to promote people and projects with German investments, encouraging multicultural exchange, professional and personal capacity building and networking. Completed higher education and fluency in English or German are some of the scholarship requirements. A letter of recommendation from a research mentor that can be from a private or public education institution it is also requested
The monthly allowance varies between 2.150 euros and 2.750 euros, depending on the researcher´s qualifications. Additional German classes, travel expenses and support for the family to accompany the researcher will be also provided by the scholarship. During the first two months, of the selected candidates will take German classes and in the following months develop their research projects. The scholarship starting date is October 1st, 2017 with one year extension.
Beyond Brazil, the Scholarship is also available for young researchers from China, India, Russia and the United States. The overall project supports, every year, 50 young leaders (10 fellows from each country), who have the opportunity to put into practice their research projects, sponsored by Germany. The scholarship is open to several areas, such as politics, economics, media, administration or culture.
Additionally, the programme, funded by the Federal Republic of Germany, also provides the opportunity for these young researchers to present their projects results in person to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
