The São Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP) and the Danish Innovation Fund (IFD) launched a joint call for research proposals in the area of food science. The entities will finance up to four projects, with a total value of US $ 2.96 million. The deadline for submission of documents is 25 November.
Proposals may be submitted by researchers linked to universities, research institutions or public and private companies in the state of São Paulo and Denmark. Each project should be prepared jointly by Brazilians and Danes and should reflect a close partnership. It is hoped that research activities will be equally developed with balanced workload and intellectual contribution among researchers.
In São Paulo, researchers that meet Fapesp criteria for submission of proposals in thematic project modalities (48-month projects) or regular research support (up to 36 months) – not extendable in both cases – are eligible. In Denmark, the call is open to any Danish tenderer who meets the eligibility criteria of the IFD.
The solutions should fit into the following topics: new sources of bioactive compounds and new functional ingredients for food fortification; organic non-food products derived from residues; healthy and sustainable foods / meals based on components of animal, marine or plant origin; innovative research in agriculture, food production, food processing and other biological processes; improvement in the value added of the food chain through the efficient and sustainable use of natural resources; research on aspects of food safety and quality related to perishable food products; and relationship between diet and lifestyle, including factors determined by changes in work and leisure.
